TriggerFish Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 I can buy a banshee right now for $900. It has a "broke rod" & I was wondring how hard they are to fix? How much they cost? Could the cylinders be scared? Good/ bad deal? Has rebuilt top end, FMF pipes and more that I dont know of. Quote
themechanic Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 price out a crankshaft kit, yes the cylinders could be junk. honestly stay away if you cant fix it or if you cant afford to get someone else too Quote
Larry's Shee Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 (edited) A crank will cost 350+/-, gaskets, etc. Unless the rest is prime condition might think about getting one that doesn't need work. If the engine is apart where you can inspect it check the cyls good Let us know and post some pics Edited September 7, 2011 by Larry's Shee Quote
camatv Posted September 7, 2011 Report Posted September 7, 2011 about a month ago one was on our local cragislist with a bent rod he said he was quoted 100 bucks to "fix it" at the local yamaha shop.. i laughed so hard on that one.. if the motor is not completely split and you dont know what your looking at you better be careful. when they are damaged like that i'd prefer to see the whole motor apart.. hell the rod could have wacked the cylinders, the cases and coul.d even have went intot he transmission.. you never know.
