rear hub too big for wheels

Im in the dark on this. I have an 87 and my gf has an 89 she just bought the same rear lightweight wheel and tire paddles as me but we just realized here rear hubs are bigger than mine and the wheels do not fit... A front wheel will fit but the hubs look different. I dont know the history of hers so not sure what is going on here. any ideas? just buy new rear hubs?

You mean the bolt pattern is incorrect? I just looked on another site that said '89-90 Banshees were 4/156 on the rear which seems huge for a sport quad to me but that's what it said. Sounds like that is where your problem lies.

89's had a different bolt pattern. Only year it wasn't the same

From what I've gathered the 4x156 rear used a 10" rim. Pick up some hubs and keep your new wheels. Banshee, Warrior, Craptor, YFZ450 are same and YFZ450R fit but are offset a bit wider.

didnt yamaha do that so when they raced the baja or desert races if they needed to change a flat they would all be the same bolt pattern?

that would only be good if they used the same size tire front and rim too.

 

As long as they were the same diameter or close. If it is the choice between a flat rear or running a 21x7 on the rear i bet the 21x7 would be the better choice.

89 AND 90 were 4 on 156 with 10 inch wheels stock, only a 10 inch wheel will fit over that big of a bolt pattern.
