jake644 Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Ok I'm thanking about getting a banshee I'm 16 I have a 400ex right now I plan on keeping my 400ex for most of my trail riding and leaving it stock besides the BIG 3. But I want a banshee to tool around on I'm pretty good with a wrench but I want to get better. But I ride mostly trail stuff and fields. I was told that trail riding a banshee would blow it up will it? Could I handle a banshee with what I'm expersened with? What would I need to do to a banshee to make it trail ridible? Thanks guys! LS3 Machine Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Wow sorry about big font Ok I'm thanking about getting a banshee I'm 16 I have a 400ex right now I plan on keeping my 400ex for most of my trail riding and leaving it stock besides the BIG 3. Welcome to the BHQ! The banshee is pretty easy to work on. No battery, no valves, etc. A properly jetted banshee with proper fuel and oil mix is in no danger of blowing up on a trail. Do you ride tight trails or open trails? Probably not the perfect ATV for tight trails. It's a fun, well designed, awesome machine. It's not too expensive to buy one, and not too expensive to maintain. Modifying can get expensive, but that's the same on all ATVs. Read a lot here and you will learn a lot. There are some helpful, knowledgeable folks here. GL and keep us posted. Quote
jake644 Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Posted June 20, 2011 I live in NC at my house I have a few fields and some trails. I plain on taking it to busco beach as munch as possible. RZBansheeMan Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Welcome aboard. If or when you get a Banshee... you should get a service manual for it. You will learn a lot from this site too. Many, many knowledgeable people here, so always stay tuned in. Lots of used parts on here for sale or trade too, few members seem to have lots of spare parts on hand quite regularly. A banshee will be just fine for trail riding, just takes different riding style vs the 4 strokes. Mike Quote
Infamous039 Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Get yourself a CLYMERS manual aka Banshee Bible. The manual breaks the bike down to the T and will help you with anything you may need to do to the bike. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Been wrenching on shit since dirt was still new , but 99.99% of what I've learned about Banshee's I got here. Follow threads to learn how problems are solved. You'll learn what info will be needed when you get a Shee and have a problem. As to trail riding, set up right it's just as easy as any other quad. jake644 Posted June 20, 2011 Author Report Posted June 20, 2011 Ok thanks alot guys. I'm really tired of everybody around my house say u can't handle a banshee they are crazy fast and go 100 stock.(people that have never had on). They are pretty quick (people that have had one)! And I would like to know some trail set up if any body knows or should I make a new topic? Thanks alot Jake Quote
Larry's Shee Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 Check out threads / setups in XC/hare scrambles forum, do some reading thru suspension forum. Worse case you might have to slip/feather the clutch a little if the trails get tite. Just don't get a wild/crazy built Banshee then expect to trail ride it Quote

06specialedition Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 You can handle a banshee. Anyone who says you can't, tell them once you buy one you'll race them . Shit, there are 100 pound chicks that ride in our group who have bigger motored banshee's than half the guys we ride with. Alot of mods you do to the banshee can affect its performance gains in different ways. For instance, different pipes run better at different rpms and come on sooner or later. For trail riding and an all around great pipe, I love pro circuits... they have nice low end, and pull hard all the way to the top. But everyone has there own opinion on parts and what is better to run. Like said above, riding trails won't blow your bike up. But you can melt your motor down and or blow your bike up if its not properly running. Jetting is a huge part of any atv IMO, don't let it freak you out. Honestly these bikes are pretty easy to tune, just instead of jetting one carb you'll have two to tune. Keep reading and taking in all the information you can on this site. I bought my first banshee spring of 09, and have learned about everything i know from here. If you need any parts or motor work from small to big....hit up one of the site sponsors on here. Great guys, and they are THE banshee experts. -Zach Quote

camatv Posted June 21, 2011 Report Posted June 21, 2011 you read every single post on every page so far? whats you educated opinion then? my best advice dont listen to "them" or THOSE guys" or that friend of mine said ( insert foot) if yamaha would release the banshee motor updated or even backdated to the RZ spec's in a new yfz 450 frame ( 09 up) they would have the in my opinion greatest atv to date.. direct injection 350cc twin powervalved 2 stroke with smart powervalve technology.. modern transmission, clutch, and shift assembly. in the MX 450 chassis!.. wow what an atv that would be.
