kamp0ss Posted June 19, 2011 Report Posted June 19, 2011 I was looking to get a rear skid plate, new rear brake disc and brake pads. Do you have any recommendations? Not looking for the best looking and most expensive, just something that is a bang for the buck. Fairly priced and quality performance. I was looking at this http://jdscustoms.com/Yamaha_Banshee_Rear_Skid_Plate.htm because I like how it has slots in the bottom so the water doesn't sit there. But it is kind of sketchy that it is some guy making them at his house... There are so many styles and types of discs and brake pads I don't know where to start. Taking the hub off seems like a pain in the ass, but if I g2 do it I will. My stock one bent because I don't have a skit plate, and my brakes are wearing wrong, so I need to replace it. Thanks Quote

Thanks Thats a fair price and the design will keep stuff from sitting in there. When i put one on mine about 3 years ago to replace the stock one i bent, it looked the same except i wound up drilling my own holes. I paid a little more than that though and i still have the same one on my everyday shee today. Even if it is some guy making them in their basement everybody has to start somewhere. As far as a disk stock is time tested and pads i have always run EBC. Good luck with everything Quote

Thanks That guy that is making them at his house is a member and sponsor on here- his business name is JDS Customs and his screen name is 87sheerips, I believe. He makes rotors and all kinds of grills and other parts for Banshees and other ATVs. Quote
Jereme6655 Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 yes JD's customs makes things out of his house.....honestly he probably builds things to a better and higher standard than aftermarket pieces that you purchase through stores. There are ALOT of bikes on here that run stuff from JD and he is a very easy going and understanding guy to talk to. Plus if you have a problem (which you wont) you can call the guy who made them.....not some 19 yr old kid who works behind the counter sayin stuff like "ya bro...its totally gotta be the best one you can buy.....you can tell cause its got flames on it"......those kids need to be taken out back and beaten. On a side note..... JD was just in a pretty bad wreck on his banshee.....he's doing okay but last i heard he was still havin some problems moving around easily. so it may take a couple of days for him to get you one.....but im not sure. his screen name on here is 87sheerips. Larry's Shee Posted June 20, 2011 Report Posted June 20, 2011 JD makes most excellant parts. Compare the thickness , design and weld quality to others. Also compare design of his rotors to some E-bay crap, some look only to be for "show". While back someone had a cheep rotor wad up like a beer can. Quote
kamp0ss Posted June 21, 2011 Author Report Posted June 21, 2011 he only had two rotors in stock.. neither looked like they would fit my bike. any other ideas? Quote

I don't know where you are located but I'm in NJ. There is a guy that i buy all my used parts from for my trail shee when i break something. PM him NYUK he is on here he most definitely has 4 or 5 laying around. Just a suggestion Quote
kamp0ss Posted July 6, 2011 Author Report Posted July 6, 2011 So my skid plate came the other day from JDs Customs. I went to mount it, and at first it was too narrow, so I bent it a little to make it fit on either side of the brackets. However, when I lined the holes up the sprocket and rotor were both right up against the skid plate. I noticed the stock skid plate has a bit of a bracket built in. Do I need to buy a bracket? Also, I was thinking maybe the chain is almost all the way adjusted out so that the bracket may be too far apart. Is this possible? Any ideas? I can post pictures if needed. Thanks Quote
