421alkybanshee Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 I just purchased a set of cases from a guy in detroit, Is there any way to tell if the cases are a matched set and not a couple different motors put together? Quote
NYUK Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 yes, theres a hand engraved code to the right of the rear motor mount on the cases, same letters and numbers should be on the top and bottom. Quote

BigRed350x Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 You can almost always notice little variances on the stator side where they machine the outside edge of the cases for the stator cover as well. The matched sets line up damn near perfect, the un-matched sets never line up perfect. - Jared Quote
Burt Reynolds Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 Not to get to off topic but the old lt250r-trx250r middle split cases can be a nightmare if they are mis matched Quote
locogato11283 Posted June 11, 2011 Report Posted June 11, 2011 I would never run mismatched cases. Quote

BigRed350x Posted June 12, 2011 Report Posted June 12, 2011 I've run them. Never had any problems. But I've heard of people who have had crank and trans failures due to the bearing to case clearances. - Jared Quote
