I'm gonna go up the next size in the front, can someone give me the exact sizes for the bit, tap, and bolt ill need?

Every time I drill those things and try to re-tap them they just strip again down the road. Its a lot easier to just weld a grade 8 stud into the frame. Then you don't have to mess with drilling your footpegs out to the next bigger size either.

I just had to completely remove and weld some new pieces onto my frame in all 4 spots. I had 4 pieces made in the machine shop nearby out of 1" round stock, 1" long. I had them go ahead and tap them to 12x1.5. I did have to cut the front ones down on account of the tube running behind the front of the bolt hole but I don't remember the actual length. I tried to just patch mine up before I got into all of this by just drilling and tapping the holes bigger but on mine there was only about 3/8" deep threads in there and I wasn't comfortable with all of that weight being on just that much thread. Anyway to answer your initial question, 12x1.5 tap and a "Z" drill bit which is .413". You may be able to go a little less than that, those sizes are just what was the most readily available to me.

If possible I'd like to see how that looks when done correctly. If I decide to go this route it's nice to see how the welds are done.

i welded flanged nuts in there, looks oem when done

That's what we had done to my cousins rear holes. For both rear holes the guy charged 70 bucks. Only one of my front holes is bad but Im thinking of doing all of them for piece of mind seeing as I would like to be able to hit some jumps this summer

The stock size is M10 - 1.25 Fine Thread, so like bigblock said go up to a M12 - 1.25 Fine (10.8 tap drill size) if you plan on just re-tapping. If you want a more permanent fix then you need to add something with a few more threads like BigRed said. I did the left rear on mine...click the link if you want to see how I did it.

Great looking work! I'm not a welder and have zero cnc experience, I basically just rebuild my entire motors and chassis minus machine work.

I used a helicoil kit from NAPA and put the oem size bolts back in. The helicoil kit ran about 60 bucks but it was well worth it and worked flawlessly.

This looks like the best option within my personal capabilities. What's the exact kit? Napa is right near where I work.

The heli-coil kit will have everything you need (coils/tap/installer) they may even come wiht a drill bit, but dont remeber. works great when i had a few stripped bolt holes on my shee a while back.

Ok, I figured out I'm gonna just have the back holes cut out and have nuts welded in like we did my cousins. I'm gonna have the fronts filled, what size bit and tap am I gonna buy? Any specific bit and tap brands to recommend?

Mine isn't going to be "done correctly" Mine would be more of the ghetto-rigged crap route. hahahaha
