acroadam Posted April 20, 2011 Report Posted April 20, 2011 My oil seal for my shift shaft was bad. So I took the old seal out, got the new seal in today. I can't seem to get it in. Do I need to split the case for this little oil seal? Any suggestion? Thanks. Adam Quote

You only need to pull your clutch cover and remove the clutch basket and slide the shift shaft out of the passenger side of the engine enough to get the seal in, then re-insert the shift shaft and re-install the clutch basket & side-cover. If you have a deep socket you can slide the deep socket over your shift shaft and tap the seal in using the deep socket and some light tapping from a small hammer or other tool. This would save you from having to remove the whole side-cover and clutch stuff. - Jared Quote

acroadam Posted April 21, 2011 Author Report Posted April 21, 2011 Man.. I think yamaha ordered the wrong oil seal. The reason I thought it was the right oil seal is because it had that wired spring inside the seal. I think they ordered me a acuator oil seal. The seal I ordered won't even fit inside the shift shaft engine mount Quote
acroadam Posted April 21, 2011 Author Report Posted April 21, 2011 Yup. They did order the wrong seal. Parts number is for acuator/clutch arrow...sucks..o well..maybe they will let me keep this and just buy me the right one..you never know Quote
