acroadam
I bought this key switch on eBay for my 1997 banshee. Before I had a tethered switch that had 2 wires coming from the switch, this new switch has four wires going into a plug. I was wondering if two of the wires make my headlights work, cuz before they were not working. I don't have the plug on my banshee to plug into the new switch. How do I wire it? The link below is what I bought. Thanks. Edited March 4, 2011 by acroadam
tedd1
Connect the Black/Red from the switch to the Red/Black from the CDI. Connect the Black/White to any Black wire or ground to chassis. You do not need the Brown or Red wires coming from the switch. Reference the diagram below, top left, Main Switch.

Sorry I'm a little confused on what you said.... You said connect the red/black to cdi same color, but then you finished saying I dont need the brown or red wire. I'm confused on the red wire then if you said I didn't use it. Sorry for the confusion . Thanks
tedd1
There are 4 wires on a stock switch: 1. Black with a white stripe. 2. Black with a red stripe. 3. Red. 4. Brown. You do not use the red or the brown. Black with a red stripe connects to the red with black stripe in the harness from the CDI. Black with a white stripe connects to any black wire in the harness, or ground to chassis (frame). Look at your tether. Is is likely hooked to the wires you want...
