roesso Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Went riding last weekend, second time at this place, throttle stuck both times. I had to smack the throttle real fast to get it to back off and the cable doesn't feel fraded and I don't have this problem around the house when riding. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Quote

MikeNick Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 Was your quad sitting for awhile before you went riding? More than likely your slides are hanging up..Need to take your carbs off and clean them. Let them sit for awhile an they get sticky an will stick open... Quote
roesso Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 thanks going to clean them tomorrow Quote
bansheedude55 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 i would do what mikenick said and also lube up the cables with any lube like WD40 would work but i would use more of a grease if possible though... Quote

DON'T use grease, it is too thick. I prefer a product called Tri Flow. It is a teflon based lube that sand and dirt won't stick to. Quote
jbooker82 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 (edited) I prefer to use "cable life" lube. If the cable is quesionable I would just replace it. Check the slides for a grain of sand or two. It doesnt take very many to cause a slide to hang up. Edited February 22, 2011 by jbooker82 Quote
Jereme6655 Posted February 22, 2011 Report Posted February 22, 2011 when you went riding at this place did you ever wind up running through or splashing up a little bit of water? The stock mikuni carbs are nutorious for sticking when you run them through water... Quote
roesso Posted February 22, 2011 Author Report Posted February 22, 2011 both times we went riding is was wet one time it was snowing and the last time it was muddy Quote
chillls Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 ahhh dont go ridding there :rotflmao: Quote
Jereme6655 Posted February 23, 2011 Report Posted February 23, 2011 take it out riding again only make sure this time its a dry place and see if it does the same thing......then if you can.....find yourself somewhere semi-wet and try it there too and see if that's where your running into the problem. Like i said before......mikuni carbs are nutorious for binding up slightly when you run run em in wet conditions... Quote
