With all the beating you've no doubt done to the cases so far and will have to do to get them apart, I would definitely replace the cases once you have it apart. You can wedge a flat bladed screwdriver between the case halves back by the trans shaft on the clutch side. Even if you pound a driver through the case there it won't totally kill you since the trans is in the same oil the clutch is in and having a beat up sealing surface right there wouldn't be the worse spot. If I were going to try and pry them apart, that would be the spot to do it.
