WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Was just looking at a Banshee they say is a 420. They say the piston is a 69mm and it has long rods. What's the deal with that set-up? Can you just do a sleeve and bore it that big? Will there be cooling issues? Your thoughts on a 420 stock cylinder? I've got a 370 long rod and I thought that was as far as you could bore. (I'm guessing unless it's sleeved.) Quote
STINKYDELUXE Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I know at one time TDR had some big sleeves like that. Quote
BANSHEE HP Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 most big bore sleeves final bore is around 69 some times 70 but pistons are even harder to find. cooling i dont think is really going to be an issue as long as the jetting is correct. Quote
gst_r Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Trinity used to have a big bore setup that the max bore will be 71mm (i know because i have a set of cylinders currently on 70.15mm)...they used to name it Trinity Racing 420 LR (long rod) well this was the info i found... Quote

(I'm guessing unless it's sleeved.) i would stay away. the one i had was a piece of garbage. previous owner is a piece of garbage too. yes, a bigger sleeve installed with a special, high dollar piston set up for a long rod. camatv Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 i have a set in the garage 70.1ish somethign or other theya re reallly thin at that point. h-2 or kawasaki 550 jetski pistons. not hard to find at all Quote
lesnant Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 I have been running a set of stockers with big bore sleeve. 4mil long rod. Runs pretty dam good. Had to replace the pistons after going to methanol. Ended up being Kawi pistons and windows had to get cut into them. 72mm pistons were still pretty spendy. Quote
camatv Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 wossner makes pistons for the kawai, cheeta, big bore bla blab now too. h-2 Quote
68chevyc10355 Posted February 16, 2011 Report Posted February 16, 2011 Even if it was 69 mm bore and stock stroke it would not be a 420, it would be roughly a 404. To be a 420 with stock stroke it would have to roughly have a 70.4 mm bore. Quote
