slobanshee Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 I finally sold my 5xx ci bottle fed yfz and bought a banshee. I got a good deal on a mostly stock bike. It has clamp on k&n's and procircut exhaust. Im ready to build a motor but not sure which way to go. Iv been doing reading and it seems most go with a 4 mil cub. Is it the best bang for the buck? I dont mind spending money on good parts. The bike will be raced mostly only on sand. But I might ride across the dunes to races. I dont want to run alky and would like to stay on race gas at most. I really want to have a 90+ hp bike. Can you guys give me ideas on which cub to build and why? Thanks Quote
Sandfrk33 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 I would say it depends on how you are going to ride it. If you are just racing, there is no replacement for displacement. Bigger is better. If you plan on riding it, other than drag, go with a 4 mil. Quote

If money is not a problem and you are not trying to get into a specific motor size bracket for racing, I would go with the 10mil cub. It has more bottm end and top end. Fun to ride in the dunes as well as race. Have a good builder build you one and you won't be dissappointed. Quote
crazycanuck Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 IMO> 7 mill crankshaft is the same $$$$ as the 10Mil. So dont build one of those unless you get a great deal on a crankshaft... And i had a 4 mil built and im already wishing i went with the 10....... Quote
locogato11283 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 10mm Cub hands down. M&M ATV had a killer deal going on for a 10mm Cub a while back. Might check with them to see what's up with it now. Quote
slobanshee Posted February 10, 2011 Author Report Posted February 10, 2011 I'll be duning just a little on my to the drag area that's about it. I don't want to rebuild it every 6 months either really. Are any cranks better than any others? It seems like it just depends on who you ask? What kind of power difference is there between a 4mil and 10mil? Quote

If quality parts are used, ran in perfect tune, well maintained, and its put together right. you will have a STRONG running engine that will last for years. As stated above the 10mm will have more torque and more hp. The Numbers will vary on who you ask, but all i know is that you WILL ALWAYS WANT MORE POWER! You will get 3 million answeres on what brand of crank to use. So Contact one of the site sponsors and they Will Set you up. I Used FAST Racing and they have been nothing but great to me. hope this helps Quote

dajogejr Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 At Planet Sand last year, the biggest drag event in the world for ATVs, etc., RDZ took the world record in the 0-400cc class. He used a cub cylinder. Do the math. Quote
slobanshee Posted February 10, 2011 Author Report Posted February 10, 2011 Hmmm thats interesting. Quote

slobanshee Posted February 10, 2011 Author Report Posted February 10, 2011 That's hauling ass. Lol. I been reading an asking about the cubs. So I'm pretty sure I'll just do a 10mil. I can always run half throttle if I'm beating the 4 strokes to bad. What's you guys thoughts on porting the cub cylinders? Some say don't mess with it and some say it's worth the money. I even spoke to trinity and they said for 400 bucks they would port them it would gain another 10-15hp. Thoughts? Quote
robert0762 Posted February 10, 2011 Report Posted February 10, 2011 Stay as far away from trinity as possible. You can port them and gain some more peak hp but prob wont need it with a 10 mill Quote
slobanshee Posted February 10, 2011 Author Report Posted February 10, 2011 Your not the first to say that about them. So just leave the cylinders as they come? Quote
