brybear Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Hey Guys Last week we went on a pretty long ride and I ran out of gas in my banshee a few miles from our campsite. We were in pretty deep sand wash and didn't think there was any way of recovering my banshee other than towing it with the blaster. After being towed for about a mile my brothers blaster (which was obviously struggling dragging my banshee through the sand) died and it started to smoke out of the piston. We let it sat for about 15minutes and then kicked it, it turned over first kick but now it knocks really bad. What did we do? How can I troubleshoot how bad the piston is? Just waned to get your opnion. Thanks Quote
Larry's Shee Posted January 28, 2011 Report Posted January 28, 2011 Pull the head and jug off. With any luck all you smoked was the piston. Heavy load, little/slow air flow= smoked. Quote
BluBanshee98 Posted January 29, 2011 Report Posted January 29, 2011 Yeah you could inspect the piston by pulling the intake off the jug but might as well dive in. Probably overheated collapsed the rings and now the piston is slapping around in the cylinder. You could also try doing a compression test. Quote
DirtDiggler69 Posted January 31, 2011 Report Posted January 31, 2011 You could just pull the intake and look at that part of the piston / cylinder wall yeah you just over heated it and smoked the piston . Quote
