01blackshee
Hey fellas... i just did a new top end rebuild... before i did this rebuild the bike had ported cylinders and a Cool Head w 17ccdomes... I no longer have the ported cylinder or the cool head! The main jet was 340.. I went back to a stock cylinder @ 64.25mm bore and a stock head!! I changed the main jet to 270!! but i did not change the needle or pilot jet..( I dont even know where the pilot jet is) So that would help!!! Im at a little over 100ft above elevation.. I have t-5's v 3's, and i have a pro design air filter kit and i run with the lid off. My shee fires right up. and idles fine, but smoke is pouring outta the exhaust.. and I place my hand over the tips and i get a black oily residue onmy hand . Im assuming im running too rich.. Please imnot an idiot its just my first banshee rebuild.. Im not trying to ruin anything. im being very cautious here!! So i would like to know if the oil residue is from me running to rich.. remember i didnt change my carb needles or the pilot jet.. I was hoping someone can give me an idea of what i need to run.. I would do the sticky of what jets to run.. but i dont know what pilot jets or needle ii am running.. I must to retarded bc i dont know where the pilot jet is!! if anyone can please help out a newbie its appreciated.. I dont need a buncha people telling me im an idiot and etc.. I just dont know the nature of the beast yet!! any help would be greatly appreciated!!! I also tried the shout box to avoid a post. but noone responded!! So this is my last resort!!! THANX AGAIN
RZBansheeMan
I am assuming your carbs are stock.... If you live in a cold wintry climate, try 27.5's for the pilots and then try the needle in the middle position.
Larry's Shee
Pilot jet is next to main, 3/16 hole bout 1/4 deep, small straight slot screw driver needed. Only stupid question is one that is not asked. Usually, ? like this get answered better in a post. Best thing to do is get a repair manual. What's the temp where you are? What is your mix ratio. is the smoke equal or more out of right?

Stock carbs.. with TORS still on.. temperature is in and around freezing about now is below freezing. im in new jersey.. ratio is 32:1 with yamalube.. and its equal amount of smoke from each exhaust!!... Im pretty sure the jetting is all messed up.. Just want some other opinions... Ima going to take the carbs apart to see what my needles are at and what my pilots are.. Toomey reccomends the needles to be set on the 4th groove.. one carb was set at the 2nd groove and the other at the 1st groove.. previous owner was a dumbdick!!! Got her all sorted out.. i just need to idle her down a little bit.. Thanx for the help to the fellas above!!!
