Kyzer Posted January 20, 2011 Report Posted January 20, 2011 My wife has a 2001 blaster and ever since I bought it I've this problem. First off, its hard as hell to start if its been sitting for any amount time. Second, when I do get it started it runs and idles fine until I give it a little gas and when I let of the throttle it takes forever to idle down. besides this problem it runs fine, has 120 compression, passed a leak down, I've tried changing the jetting and still the same deal. the engine is completely stock with the tors removed, new stock carb, fmf power core pipe, and k&n filter. Ive also tested the electrical and the only thing that's not to spec is the ignition coil but I think that may be due to the meter I'm using any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Quote

Thanks w Did you check the pilot circuit ? Is it clean/clear? What did it do when you adjusted the airscrew? What pilot jet? Did you check for leaks around the boot and carb? Spray it wit hcarb cleaner while its running and see if the boot is leaking . Quote

Matt21 Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 Pilot jet is lean (too small) or has an airleak causing a lean condition... Quote

It has a 30 pilot jet in it and went up to a 35 with no luck. the airscrew dont seem to have any affect on the problem either. Ive done a leak down and it held 4 psi for 20 min. Quote

I'd still do a quick spray with some carb cleaner while its running around where the carb mates to the boot. You cant check that connection via a leakdown test. Plus it only takes a second to do. It eliminates that being a possible problem real easy. Quote
crash&burn Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 did check to see if the slide is stickin in the carb happened to me once... sticky throttle cable... spring that pushes the slide down in the carb maybe weak.. just some thoughts for the high idle Quote
thrill-billy85 Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 did check to see if the slide is stickin in the carb happened to me once... sticky throttle cable... spring that pushes the slide down in the carb maybe weak.. just some thoughts for the high idle X2 same problem once, but mine was on a set of flea-bay 28PWK's... aluminum D-slides, not the chrome ones.... fail. it could be worn slides, or even a bent needle, or a junk cable causing the carbs to stick. or a huge plethora of stuff..... the list on my stock carbs when i bought my banshee include: cracked intakes missing choke tube slides in the wrong carbs (meaning they were backwards) bowls not on correct carbs cracked reeds (not ON the carbs, but an intake issue no less) DO THIS.... get her started.... rev it a little (so it sticks) then rev it about 1/2 to 3/4 and let it slam back shut.... see if that helps bring the idle back down... or take your airbox off and physically LOOK at your slides and see that they are all the way down. but dont trust it if they only LOOK like they are... use your finger to see if you can actually push them down.... i say this from experience Quote

Larry's Shee Posted January 21, 2011 Report Posted January 21, 2011 I read you have new cable ,try lubing it. Also make sure you don't have a kink or bad routeing ,esoecially after putting body or tank, seat back on. JMO. Quote
