BansheeTeD Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 so i took my shee out tonight to ride around in the snow, i rode for about 15 minutes then let it sit for about 20 min. it was snowing and it was about 22 degrees, when i got back outside to start it took me about 5 minutes to get it started, when i acutally got it going kept making a backfireing sound of like alot of pressure of straight air and my throttle became really really sensitive. As soon as my finger woud touch the throttle it would rev, and i noticed in the morning inside my exhaust tips looked kinda like white paste colored....new to the shee any help would be greatly appreciated Quote
crustydemon Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Your running way lean. You need to re jet , post this in the jetting forum and list your info for advise. Quote
BansheeTeD Posted December 28, 2010 Author Report Posted December 28, 2010 my banshee is bone stock and i use yamalube 32:1 ratio Quote
BansheeTeD Posted December 28, 2010 Author Report Posted December 28, 2010 (edited) after todays ride the banshee ran better, throttle didnt mess up at all and no white residue on my exhaust tips but after riding for about 20 min i did get the backpressure of air spitting out the exhaust Edited December 28, 2010 by BansheeTeD Quote
crustydemon Posted December 28, 2010 Report Posted December 28, 2010 Knowing your elevation is going to be the main thing, I cant help with stock pipe jetting but just from the sounds of it your running right on the edge of a meltdown. Quote
midlifecrisis Posted December 31, 2010 Report Posted December 31, 2010 If youre running a bone stock bike and havent messed around with it too much then youve got 240 mains and 25 pilots in it, you need to go up to 260 mains minimum, and 27.5 pilots. Its better to be rich, than to run it lean, as seizing it only takes a few minutes of lean conditions. If you find youre too rich, you can always bring it down a size, but the general rule / guideline is 2 sizes up for the winter, as the air is more dense and requires more fuel. Youre whereabouts and elevation are essential, they should be in your sig, so people dont have to ask. Quote
esterelbanshee Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Sorry Midlife, I respectfully disagree. Stock jets are gonna be 200 and you NEED to IMMEDIATELY change for 230 jets or you WILL blow up your motor. Whatever your summer jetting was (probably 200 on a stock pipe) you need to go up by 3 jet sizes for where you live in winter. Just do it now. Now. Quote
esterelbanshee Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 Your oil mix ratio has nothing to do with your problem. Mix is fine. Rejet now. Quote
papa_smurf49319 Posted January 3, 2011 Report Posted January 3, 2011 agreed way lean, and i hate to say this but you most likely already did some damage Quote
