banshee build Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 i have a 2003 trx 300ex that is pretty built, it has full dg exhaust, jetted, uni filter, new axle, new valve seals and gaskets, new billet bearing carrier, and wheel spacers, also a bigger drive sprocket. i painted the plastics too. i put it up on craigslist just to see what i would get for some offers and this guy emailed me that had a 1998 banshee. it has no rear brakes, clutch cover gasket leaks, full fmf exhaust, nerfs, trinity 2 into 1 carb, and a pro design cool head(unknown cc). the guy says that he hasnt ridden it in about a year and he started it up the other day and it runs good. he says that he is only trading it because he hasnt used it and because he has another banshee that he rides. the trx is for his wife. the only thing that i am concerned about is why would someone be coming to me with a banshee trying to trade for a trx 300ex?? but hey, im not complaining.. it is a huge deal for me i think.. tell me what you guys think.. im going to be checking it out this weekend. i also got a lot of deals for blasters too but i feel like they would be two slow. 06specialedition Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Look it over really good. Check the compression on it if possible. I say if everything checks out, Git-R-Done Quote
ban99 Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Be cautious, kinda sounds like a potential basket case to me. Also sounds like you have a real nice 300ex, so if his bike checks out, tell him you want $200 on top of the trade (as a side note to this if he jumps on that deal real fast than something is up with his bike) and most of all make sure the vin# checks out clean. Larry's Shee Posted December 2, 2010 Report Posted December 2, 2010 Check the ball joints , suspension ,swing arm brgs , and axle brgs good. Look to see if he does have another 'shee in the garage. Things aren't moving good right now and might see it as a good opertunity to get a good ride for his wife. Keep in mind that you have what he wants , not so much the other way , use this to your advantage. If you find some things wrong use that to make him sweeten the deal . Check the frame for bends , repair welds, major dents. Quote
banshee build Posted December 3, 2010 Author Report Posted December 3, 2010 alright thanks guys, ill be sure to inspect it thoroughly. he does have another shee, ill have him take them both out and look at them both because he said he rides that other one all the time. ill listen to them both run at the same time and see if theyre running any different. im supposed to be meeting him this sunday so after i meet up with him, ill come back and let you guys know how it went. thanks guys Quote
bansheesrtoys Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 i would do it, not everybody feels the same about a banshee as we do. some people rather have a slower quad that don't need much attention.plus if it for his wife i can understand. at the same time don't think that you are going to get this badass banshee for the 300, because you said he has another one and more than likely all the goodies are on the one he rides.oh and if he trys to say it don't run good because of the carbs, then ask him to swap the carbs off his other bike just to test it out.i always her people on CL sayin 'it don't run good because the carbs need to be cleaned' Quote
derekr8885 Posted December 3, 2010 Report Posted December 3, 2010 i traded a 99 400ex for my 02 banshee Quote
