AustinK Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 Ok so I've rebuilt my stock engine after 9 years of good solid riding time. I have gone with a .40 bore and wiesco pistons, Mikuni 28mm flat side carbs, and plan to keep the pro circuit exhaust that I have on the bike already. Is this a decent set-up and what power gains might I get from these mods? I live in south Mississippi not really sure of elevation, and don't know anything about jetting either. I plan to upgrade the intake system soon as well. Any comments, suggestions, and info to learn from would be awesome!! Quote

I think you should go to the jetting forum on here and do some reading. With those mods ,you'll have to rejet. Check for the pinned topics in the jetting forum. There's an elevation finder there. AKheathen Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 FAST=FUN wow, you definitely need to resize that before you put it in your sig........ anyway....vforce are probably not your best choice. maybe some chairiot, boysen, por carbon tech reeds will suit you better Quote
AustinK Posted October 23, 2010 Author Report Posted October 23, 2010 alright thanks for the info, I've been around reading and kept seeing everyone talk about elevation and jetting. Thats what got me to thinking about my jets and area. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted October 23, 2010 Report Posted October 23, 2010 So other than new top end all you changed was carbs? Maybe search "mikuni 28" in jetting or repair/mod forum to find close set-up. Far as elevation can't be more than 1000' Be sure you also note air cleaner set-up. Should be able to get close enough for starting point. Each machine is different tho. Quote
AustinK Posted October 23, 2010 Author Report Posted October 23, 2010 Ok, I'll do that now. I went to the jetting forum and did the elevation thing and its saying 301' so I'm guessing thats 301' above sea-level right? Quote

AustinK Posted October 23, 2010 Author Report Posted October 23, 2010 so what are some good reeds, and is there a good jet kit that anyone recommends? Quote
AKheathen Posted October 24, 2010 Report Posted October 24, 2010 so what are some good reeds, and is there a good jet kit that anyone recommends? don't buy a traditional jet kit. the only "kit" worth buying is when someone puts together a whole bunch of sizes to sell on ebay cheap, otherwise, just buy individual jets, and put the other 100+ back in your pocket. i bought ebay jets for $35 shipped, and got 2 of every size from 210- 390 some boysen dual stage reeds, carbon tech, charriot would all match your setup well, just what kind of "feel" you prefer Quote
