VictorK Posted October 19, 2010 Report Posted October 19, 2010 Does anyone know by chance what size it is or if I can get one at the local hardware store? Just had my second one get lost and I know the fucker was seated all the way. I'd like to be ready to ride this weekend seeing as the woods are great in the fall so I need to get a clip in like 2 days. Quote
locogato11283 Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 Do you have a lot of play between the shaft and gear? If the bushing is worn out it will cause the gear to kick the clip off the shaft. I've had it happen. You need to press in a new bushing, use a new washer and a new clip. Quote

VictorK Posted October 20, 2010 Author Report Posted October 20, 2010 Ill check it out today and see if its Loose . I'd be pissed to break the hinson basket Quote
locogato11283 Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 The gear should not wobble on the shaft at all. It should spin freely but not have back and forth play. Quote
Larry's Shee Posted October 20, 2010 Report Posted October 20, 2010 If you don't fix it right you'll end up with the washer welded to the shaft. Thank you previous owner !! Quote
VictorK Posted October 20, 2010 Author Report Posted October 20, 2010 sure enough the idler hear wobbles like hell. I put it back together like that so I can rip sat. Even if I got the part for inside the gear I still don't have time before sat to put it back together besides today. I'm gonna order the part from fast tonight so I can fix it. Quote

When mine came off, the clip and washer ran through the gears in the clutch cover- I had to buy a new clutch basket, crank gear, water pump gear and idler gear plus all the washers, snap rings, lock tabs and gaskets to put it back together. This was one of the few breakdowns I had while at the dunes and since we were there for a week, it cost a fortune to buy all those parts locally, because I did not want to sit around camp all week. Collateral damage can be expensive- just something to think about. Edited October 20, 2010 by bansheesandrider Quote
