AK-OuTLaW Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Hello Looking for some help on a 2003 banshee I bought it from a friend who recently passed away it has an ignition problem. I've tried testing best I could with a digital ohmmeter. I do get a voltage signal when I kick it over on both the power and the ignition side. ignition pickup measures 115ohm it shows a voltage signal to the coil when I crank it also. just wondering how to test the stator/pickup, CDI, Coil before I start throwing new parts at it I don't need? I haven't ordered the manual yet, planned on getting a flywheel puller along with it. I needs a top end kit I know but it ran pretty well before just lost ignition. I don't have any friends with a banshee to swap parts around with to test. was hoping to get it up and running before the snow flys here in Alaska. I did unplug the TORS box over the left exhaust. I have tested the kill switch not sure where to go from here? besides ordering the manual and waiting for it to arrive. thanks for any help you can provide. also I was looking how to become a supporting member link? I'd gladly donate to keep this place up and running just couldn't find a link. again thanks and happy/safe riding to you all Quote
luv2ride Posted September 12, 2010 Report Posted September 12, 2010 Find out what works and the bad will hit ya right in the face. It takes a couple things to make a motor run right? Both fuel and spark, without those 2 things aint nothing gonna happen. Check for spark by pullin one of the plugs and lay it next to a piece of metal like the cylinder and kick it over, does it have spark? If so go on to fuel. Trace everything find out what works until you find the non-working part/issue and go from there. It's like a big chain all the links need to be connected. You may want to check compression as well. Good luck Quote
Larry's Shee Posted September 13, 2010 Report Posted September 13, 2010 Has this been sitting for a long time? It currently has no spark? As luv2 said check everyting, switches , use search funtion also. I belive there is a sticky on the electrical testing. Clymers manual will help also. BTW, Welcome to BHQ !! Quote
