Na, it too easy just to split them. S-oregon and your first recommendation worked like a charm. Flipped it over and took the bottom off, transfered the tranny into the bottom half, secured the crank in the top half, and set the top half down. Piece of cake. Will test tonight

You have to remove the clutch to get to the bearing plate that has to be removed. It seems (new to me) that some don't run that bearing retainer, therefore don't have to remove the clutch.

Just like J-Madd stated, have to remove the clutch to remove the bearing stop. The bearing has a cir-clip, so some choose not to re-install the bearing stop.

 

I choose to have the bearing stop installed, if something comes up that warrants splitting the cases, I'm done anyhow, and saving 5 minutes not taking the clutch off makes no difference.

what about the cluch and the bearing plate ? I just got it 8 week ago and it has bin a lot of sleepless nights. they did a half ass tors removel . they tryed to fix a crack in the bottem end with some kind of metal .welded the foot pegs on.
