252wheelieking Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 I have always used Bel Ray H1R in my banshee, but my local dealership doesn't keep it in stock that often. I heard through a couple of friends that Klotz is a really good oil & sell at half the cost of Bel Ray. Where im from you get what you pay for, so can anybody give me any heads up on these Klotz oils. Is Bel Ray H1R better than Klotz or im just paying for Bel Ray's name? Quote

Im curious though what is the cost for each? Around here they are pretty much the same. Now i wouldnt go using just any 2-stroke oil but i have run the red klotz techniplate in every 2-stroke iver ever owned. Its a very good quality oil. I wouldnt mix it much more than 40:1 though. I always went between 45-50:1. Quote
06specialedition Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 EVERYONE will have a different opinion on this topic. I personally KLOTZ R-50, and have lot of friends who run r-50 and or super techniplate. My brother inlaw has a 2000 banshee that he bought brand new. He has ridden the shit of that bike and still hasn't done a rebuild yet..(it is barley starting to need one now after 10 years of dune riding) The only oil he has ever ran is R-50, so I'm pretty convinced its good stuff Quote
So Cal Suspension Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 If you really want to stick with the convenience of the Bel-Ray "bottle per 5 gallon jug", try the MC1. I've run it in everything I own, and in my shee I run it at 50:1. One bottle = 50:1 with 5 gallons of gas. I buy it for two reasons. It works really well, and no need for a ratio rite... just dump the bottle in... Quote
jbooker82 Posted July 13, 2010 Report Posted July 13, 2010 Both R50 and Supertechniplate are good oils. R50 is going to be like the bel ray you use to run. No or ultra low smoke clean burn. It is a 100% synthetic oil. Supertechniplate is a blend of oil. It is 80% synthetic 20% klotz benol caster oil. Caster oil is a dirty burning oil, and it smokes. But is a really great protecting oil. The supertechniplate helps to burn clean and still offer the protection of caster oil. I run Supertechniplate. If i was running a power valve engine then I would run R50. Quote
