VictorK Posted June 25, 2010 Report Posted June 25, 2010 I split my cases to change crank and main bearings. I thought I could get away with not taking the cylinders off, but now seems like the pistons wont come through the bottom of the top case. I have to take the cylinders off to take the pistons out don't I? Quote
camatv Posted June 26, 2010 Report Posted June 26, 2010 great now you have to spend 25 bucks on a gasket set DANGIT!! Quote
TNTS355 Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 I would never split my cases from the bottom, much easier just taking off the jugs. Quote
VictorK Posted June 28, 2010 Author Report Posted June 28, 2010 The thing that sucks is that I had like 4hrs on that top end and just bought new gaskets, then a head stud decides to come out of the cylinder causing me to get another set for when the cylinder was done being helicoiled. Once it was together my left pipe would vibrate, I grabbed the fly wheel and figured out the main bearing was going. I had keven herr weld a mint extra crank I had and bought new main bearings plus bought a cool head and was trying to sneak past changing those gaskets again haha sometimes it has to be a pain in the ass but when the banshee is running strong it more then makes up for the frustration. I used the yamabond 4 by the way and it wasn't rtacky in my opinion, I think it applied well and the curing time was on par with putting the clam back together. When I was rebuilding the bottom end I was thinking wow, this is so much better then rebuilding a 250 bottom end Quote
