papa-smurf Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Hey fellas I am on the verge of finishing my first banshee project/rebuild. Behind the oil drain bolt under the engine is two bolts. The bolts on my shee are slowly becoming saturated with my tranny oil and dripping creating a nice tiny puddle in the mornin. What should I be looking for to fix this? Thanks in advance Quote
Larry's Shee Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 Internet ate my first answer ,lol . Did you have cases apart? Might not have gotten enough Yamabond on. Maybr try re-tourqing case bolts in proper order. Quote

Thanks in advance were u in the cases?it sounds like the sealer around the studs where the cases mate is gone,or not properly sealed. Quote
papa-smurf Posted June 21, 2010 Author Report Posted June 21, 2010 I did not touch the cases. Just the head. Is it something to be really worried about? It will create a half inch to an inch diameter puddle underneath after about 12 or so hours Quote
AKheathen Posted June 21, 2010 Report Posted June 21, 2010 drain the oil, remove one bolt at a time, and clean it, and the hole with brake cleaner, or anything not leaving a residue, blow it out, and put sealant on the bolt shaft/head, and torque it down. only 1 at a time, though. Quote
papa-smurf Posted June 21, 2010 Author Report Posted June 21, 2010 Ok will do right now. thanks Quote
papa-smurf Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 Hey guys..they are still leaking after trying to seal the nuts. The leak is at the two studs under the engine near the oil drain bolt. Do I have to go into the cases and replace gaskets/seals to stop this leak? Quote
fastbanshee8 Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 There are no gaskets, or seals for the studs. Are you sure that your drain plug isn't leaking, and running oil onto the studs? Quote
papa-smurf Posted June 27, 2010 Author Report Posted June 27, 2010 the oil saturates the studs and drips..there is no oil around the drain bolt Quote
tedd1 Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 Might try some copper washers like on a cool head and some sealant on the threads...? Quote
AKheathen Posted June 27, 2010 Report Posted June 27, 2010 oh, i thought you were talking about bolts, lol yah, blue non-hardening rtv on the threads, and on hard washers, or use coper washers. might get it to seal with just adding rtv. Quote
