Hey guys,

I am working on an 01 shee with fmf fattys and silencers and a pro-flo with k&n. The mains are at 260 and the rest of the jets are stock. The problem that I am having is this thing will not idle and it takes 10-15 kicks to start on full choke. I have cleaned the cars and scyned the carbs and still no change. Is this a symptom of to low of fuel level in the carbs? I have not yet checked the float levels I just wanted to ask the pro's first. Also the tors is still on. Thanks for any help.

go get yourself some 27.5 pilot jets and solve the problem...haha. but seriously the shee's runnin FMF Fatties love the 27.5 pilot jet.....

You really should be running the 27.5s with any aftermarket pipes.

Turn the air screws all the way in, then .5 turns out.

If this helps/solves the problem, small pilots are your issue.

If it doesn't make any difference, you have another issue.

Regardless if the jets are too small, it should still start fairly easy with the choke on...that should give it plenty of fuel.

Choke tube in place, are the right bowls on the correct carb?

If the carbs are setup right, clean...and .5 turns out doesn't help the starting, check cranking compression.

Last question...once you warm it up and run it...does it start MUCH easier?

If so...I'm pointing towards worn out top end.

The owner told me that it still starts hard when warm. If yoou ride it than let it sit for even like ten min you have to choke to start it. I am gonna try the air screws first then go from there. Thanks

It would be wise to check cranking compression just to know where you're at, but you must use a quality gauge and do it right...

Once it is started and running, other than the idle issue...how does it run?

If it runs good from half throttle and up...I'm leaning towards correct pilot/air screw adjustment.

If it doesn't run too good after 1/2 throttle, I'm leaning on it's a worn top end.

This thing has really got me thinkin Ill never own one of these. I turned the air screws in all the way and out .5 and got it started. The idle is still crap but it stays running but it seems to run strong on one and hit or miss on the other. If I try to turn the air screws out it will want to die out and if I leave them at .5 it idles really high. I am at a loss here. These quads are like really hot girls, as long you treat them nice and spend lots of cash on them they are great, but as soon as you let them slip they get all fat and bitchy lol. Also the right carb is now leaking out the over flow now and then and thats the side that runs shitty so I am gonna pull that carb and take a look. Sorry to rant.

Check your floats.

you also want to make sure you dont have an air leak i would do a compression check and a leakdown test to see whats going on

an air leak would make it start hard both cold and warm goodluck

with the tors system isnt there a diff idle screw or do u set idel with the air screw? did u disconect the tors completly yet ? or maybe check the choke tube thats inbetween the carbs as said b4 good luck
