cylinder stud removal

Hello all,

I have a rusted dowel pin stuck in my upper case halve. Cant seem to get the stud out to remove the rusted pin. Is there a special tool everyone uses to remove the case studs?

generally, the double nut approach works, but if you can't get it with that, there is a std stud removal tool, which is like a disc with 2 or 3 holes and a lobe you turn with a rachet or breaker bar. you can also use heat on it to help

Use some PB Blaster or other penetrating oil on it, let it sit as long as possible. Propane torch for heat. Just don't go ape $hit with the force or heat, you'll have more problems than you started with. IMO , your results may vary.

You can def snap those studs off pretty easy if you are not careful.

thanks for the input guys. I used a liberal amount of pb blaster and the double nut method.

got them out, I had th hammer on the rusted pins but those came out as well. You have to be extremely

carful though, whenever you use a hammer on your case, use caution. I also put some heat on it via a propane torch, not sure if that helped but i got it out.

Glad you got it out, but why does the rusty dowel pin bother you? Just wondering.
