atv asphalt drag racer Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 If using a stock 6 finger sprocket hub with a 38 tooth 530 sprocket. 530 chain works fine. It wont work if using a 40mm Billet aluminum sprocket hub. Sprocket Specialists sells 1000's of sprockets around the world every week. Maybe Dee Dee didn't know you were using a 40mm billet axle. Or she didn't understand when she was told. Cascade Innovations sells 530 sprockets for Banshee 4 bolt hub. Great prices too. There are some new 520 chains that work great on some of the Huge stroker motor draggers. Those 520 chains will handle 150+ horses. Quote

I tested it on both the 38 and 39 yesterday and both hit. The 38 hit every arm and the 39 would hit a few depending on how the link sits on the sprocket above the arm. I am not using a 40mm billet axle. I am using a stock Banshee hub with a LSR stock size axle. She was told exactly the setup as I was standing there listening to the whole conversation. It's not like it's a complicated question anyway. She was asked if the chain would hit the hub using a 38 or 39 tooth sprocket. Pretty simple. She made a phone call and called back stating that the chain would not hit the hub. I can take pictures of it if need be but what she told me would work and what she sent me will not. Still not my problem and they should refund my money 100%. Quote

locogato11283 Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 WHAT BRAND IS THE 530 CHAIN?? Not that it should matter but it is RK530 from Rocky Mountain ATV. Quote
locogato11283 Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 Here is the update: I talked to Dee Dee again today, who was very short and very rude with me. I stated again that this was not my problem and that we bought the sprockets based on the information she gave us. She said that my dad was confused and asked if the Banshee sprockets would fit on a Banshee hub, which makes no sense whatsoever. He absolutely did not ask her that as I was standing right there when he was on the phone with her. I told her that she was specifically asked whether or not the chain would hit the hub and she states that she does not remember being asked that. Of course she doesn't and it sure doesn't make any sense for her to make a call to find out of a Banshee sprocket will fit on a Banshee hub either. She told me that she would refund me for the full price of the sprockets but not the $14 shipping that we paid originally. She also said that she would not pay for return shipping and that she will be closing out my account when she gets them back. I said well you might as well because I will never do business with you again. Then she goes on to tell me that she will get them back in and turn right around and sell them. I was like, yea I am sure you will and that's part of the reason I am not eating a 30% restocking fee. So I guess I will be sending the sprockets back. For good measure I took some pictures of the chain on the sprockets on the stock Banshee hub.. 39 tooth. It's hard to see, but the inside link hits on some of the arms. Not all, but hitting on one even is more than enough reason for me to not run them. 38 tooth. Notice how the chain is hitting so bad it won't even continue on around the sprocket. Quote
locogato11283 Posted April 30, 2010 Author Report Posted April 30, 2010 Before anyone starts in with, "that's not the right kind of chain nonsense," I thought I'd go ahead and measure the widest part of the inside link on my 530 chain and my old D.I.D. ATV chains. D.I.D. 520 = .585" RK 530 = .583" I just wanted to put that to rest before anyone tries to bring it up. Quote
dajogejr Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 I don't care if they sell 1,000,000 sprockets around the world...their customer service is terrible. They can't be responsible for knowing the fitment on every single application. That doesn't give them the right to treat any customer like shit. He asked the right questions, they made a mistake...refund the parts. You can't tell me a company that sells thousands of sprockets doesn't make mistakes. No aftermarket company gives you refund on the shipping back to them. That's just the nature of the biz. I'm not saying I agree with it...but that's how it is. Out of the 3 times I sent my pipes back, shipping to them was only covered once....for the same repair. atv asphalt drag racer, if your name is Ron...leave. You were clowned on here before...and obviously you haven't learned your lesson because you just joined up and changed your name. You're a first class clown. If you are NOT Ron, my sincere apologies. atv asphalt drag racer Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Thanks for the pictures. That is a easy fix. Do a sprocket hub mod. All the old school atv drag motor builders will tell you to do the hub mod. Years ago we had to do it on the sprocket hub when using a 38 tooth with a 520 chain. Some chain companies make different style chain links. Thats why I ask what brand. Quote
alcoholbanshee Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Ya, if that is the assclown Ron..............Leave. I hope we cross paths again one day. We still have a score to settle..........in person!! Quote

I know it can be modded but I am not going to do that. I was told it would work and it won't. Still not my fault and I am eating $30 and two weeks of my time over this crap. Sprocket Specialists has shit for customer service and I will never buy from them again. At the rate this thread is getting views, I hope that it will put a dent in their profits. I have a hillclimb this weekend where there will be 1000 spectators and 200 riders. You can bet that I will be putting the word out to all of them too. Quote
atv asphalt drag racer Posted April 30, 2010 Report Posted April 30, 2010 Many atv drag builders and some of Banshee HQ site sponsors use there sprockets. So one racer having a problem won't hurt them all at. Quote
