It is an electromagnetic component. We can't tell you if it is good or bad by looking at it. Test it. I have seen some pretty fubared stators work just fine while nearly new ones sh*t the bed.

yah, i've seen and run a few of those like that. just make sure the mounting area is clean for good contact. you put some sort of oil, or rust treatment on there?

i pulled a couple like that clean it and see if it works if its melted its junk i have seen the stator cover fill with water after years of no maintenence cold her in alaska i pop the cover all the time to wipe it dry

It worked before, just cleaned it up and threw it back on my new chariot timming plate.

I soaked it with WD40 and whipped it off. I didn't clean the mounting area but I did brush all the screws clean.
