Smokestack Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Tryin to install my timing plate and cannot get the flywheel to budge. Yes i have the bolt off and the right tool. My question is should i leave it under pressure with the puller? Would that hurt anything? I have read and read and tried tapping the bolt and everything. Nothing is working so i soaked it down again with oil. So should i just keep doing that or keep the remover tight as well? Quote

I know its scary you mite strip threads or screw up crank shaft, just take your time it'll come. Quote
scotts96fast Posted April 6, 2010 Report Posted April 6, 2010 Hit the puller with a mallet not a small hammer.... Quote

papa_smurf49319 Posted April 7, 2010 Report Posted April 7, 2010 sometimes those flywheels can be a bitch! Experienced it myself, had the thing in a press and it still wouldnt come off! Quote
AKheathen Posted April 8, 2010 Report Posted April 8, 2010 find a safe way to put heat to the flywheel taper. might have to go with just a heat gun, or put the heat to the puller. make absolutely sure the puller is in the threads real good. if it ddoesn't pop, loke it should once it gets hot enough, then tap the puller strait tward the crank. watch out as it might jump good, but the magnets should keep it in place.
