Yes this is my first banshee Spend the $50-$60 for the modded shift shaft thing with the aftermarket shift star and you will be happy! I run bel-ray case saver, but seems alot of guys on here like the ATF type-f for they're trannies, cheaper than $10 a quart for case saver! I may make the change myself. Quote

Ive used it since i had my 87 banshee. I have stock shift shaft and shift star and never have a problem finding neutral. Quote

Well this thing cannot, WILL NOT, Absolutley refuses to go into neutral while its running at idle, Now if I am lucky and when I say lucky odds 1/2000 while it is still moving I may just may every so often get it into neutral then. The oil I have and I swear by this brand and use it in everything I own except my shee 2stroke oil which I use klotz techniplate, Is schaeffers #267 Moly Universal Supreme 80-90w, If you all are running 80w I see it probably will not hurt it, The stuff in there now seems like 30w so maybe this will smooth things up abit. As for the grey color oil after only a few rides, Is this normal? I have no manual so how much does it require on a refill? Thanks J Quote
overrevtricky Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 I never had a horrible time shifting, it simply got annoying after awhile. Looking at the small price for buttery smooth shifting I went with it. If it would have been $100+ I would never have done it. As far as oil capacity, its 1.6 U.S. Quarts, 1.8 after a rebuild. IMO, a clymer manual and this site are the best things u can get for ur shee! Quote

Also, Since we are talking about oil I use Klotz techniplate as stated above, SHEE owners have nothing but the best to say about it. My dad told his friend about my quad I just got which just so happens to be a AMSOIL dealer and he gave me a bottle of dominator free to try, Anyone care to input about the 2? Should I use it if theres any benefits other than the sweet smell? Do appreciate any input. Will post pics of it real soon on another thread aswell as specs which I been adding to. There is nothing in this world that sounds or looks like a banshee, Just very excited to finally own one after years of envyness. Sad there no longer sold in the US. EPA sucks mighty ass. Quote
bansheesandrider Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 The problem I have with Amsoil is finding a dealer, they go out of business to often around me. I run the Klotz R50 oil at 40:1 for my premix, it burns clean and ny bottom end always has a good coat of oil on the crank and bearings when I open it up for maintence. I use the Klotz Flex Drive 30(part number KL506) in my ATVs for the tranny, and have never had a problem. The bike shifts the best with it, and when I tried the motor oil and ATF, my bike did not shift worth a damn, and there was glitter in the oil when I drained it. I even split my cases to see what was causing the glitter, but could not find anything. I ran BelRay for awhile and it was better than motor oil or ATF. I tried the Honda tranny oil when my dealer was out of BelRay, but the bike shifted like crap with it also. Then I had an independent shop turn me on to the Klotz and have been happily using it for the last 16+ years with no problems, i have not even welded any clutch balls in any of our bikes. The only problem I have with it is now I have to order it from Rocky Mt. ATV to get it. I usually just tack on 4 or 5 bottles every time I order from there. Just remember that oil is cheap compared to a ruined trip to the dunes or the cost of a bunch of failed parts. Quote
overrevtricky Posted April 5, 2010 Report Posted April 5, 2010 All the talk of Klotz on this site has made me switch. Been an avid castor 927 fan for years! I use amsoil all around in my 4-stroke dirtbikes and truck, but the banshee hasnt seen any yet! Quote
JSHEE34756 Posted April 6, 2010 Author Report Posted April 6, 2010 I probably use the dominator so it does not go to waste, But I probably will stick to techniplate. That smell is like sweet perfume and it has yet to foul my plugs out and does not smoke abit when it warms up even though I added an entire quart to 5 gallons fuel by mistake. Anyway, As far as the gear oil, Scheaffers has yet again impressed me. I used the #267 moly 80-90w just to test it out and immediatley noticed that it sloshed around all the gears when idleing looking down the dipstick that did not do before. Shifts like butter except alittle sticky when cold and after 8 hours of hard riding no silver flakes. I also had no clutch slippage. Good stuff. Some old time retired trucker turned me on to this stuff. Maybe somthing you guys may want to try if you can find it. Its very hard to find probably have to go onto the webstie to find a local dealer. Quote
