What do I need to get the center nut off ? I see there is a special tool to hold the center is that necessary? What size socket fits the center nut ?

Are you talking about the nut that holds on the clutch hub and basket? If so, it is 1-1/4" socket that fits it. Its kinda of a pain to get off. Make sure the holding tab is bent back so you can get the socket on the nut. There is a special tool to get it off but I really didnt want to buy something I was going to use once or twice so I made one. Whatever you do DO NOT use a screwdriver and wedge it between the hub and basket. Happend to me and clutch baskets arent cheap.

Impact wrench baby! headbang.gif Just don't use it to put it back on. I bought the tool which is well worth it for holding it when you're installing it. You can also use it on the flywheel. Don't use the tool and the impact. Go old school and use a socket and wrench if you get one.

You don't need that tool. All you need is an old shop rag. Bunch it up some and stick it between the gears on the back side of the basket. Hit the nut with an impact and the rag will hold it in place for the nut to come off. You can also use a penny between the gears also. Both work well and its not something new, mostly all people do it this way. Ive done it my self plenty of times on all sorts of stuff.

I use either the penny trick or the rag and an impact. I think the rag wadded up in there has less chance of breakin anything I like it a little better.
