too_fazt Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 im planning on converting my bike over to e85, and iv familiarized myself pretty well with responsibility's of running it. my question is, if your bike breaks down and your not able to purge it after riding, what do u do? do you strip it down and "spray" it with regular gasoline? I take special care in draining my carbs and blowing them out and filling them with WD-40, then i tie plastic bags around my carbs. Quote
J-Madd Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 I spray wd40 in the cylinders and kick it over few times. I may or may not drain the carbs. Quote

shanYE west Posted March 19, 2010 Report Posted March 19, 2010 I would use a fogging oil over WD.. It will coat everything rather then just where you spray.. Fogging oil is used in PWC when they're winterized for storage. (2-stroke cylinders) Quote

Bansh-eman Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 How are you guys going to use the Fog if the bike is broken down? Quote
BigRed350x Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 IF you know you're going to be tearing it down soon to check everything out, I'd just pour a crapload of 2-stroke oil down in the cylinders and pull the carbs off and go through and clean them out with carb cleaner. If you're going to go through and tear it down anyway, you can clean out the 2-stroke oil during tear-down. I've also done the WD-40 thing others have mentioned. I've done it both ways and had an engine sit for a week or so before I got the time to fix the fuckup and didn't have any issues. - Jared Quote
Bansh-eman Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 When we raced gokarts, we ran meth, and we would run regular gas and spray wd-40. let the motor idle with the gas for a few mins, then run up the throttle and hit it with a little wd-40. let it catch back up and do that a few times. Then flood the shit out of it with wd-40 until it died. But that was on a running motor, not sure how you could get the wd-40 to coat everything is the motor is broke down. Quote
BigRed350x Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 You could always go with the 55gal drum of oil and just drop your entire engine into the drum. Quote
shanYE west Posted March 20, 2010 Report Posted March 20, 2010 How are you guys going to use the Fog if the bike is broken down? we fogged the cylinders through the plug holes.. then through the intakes. Quote
