Gurnzz Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 hopefully someone can help me. my banshee when i bought it would move forward even when the clutch was pulled in. i ws told this could be caused by a worn inner or outer clutch hub and the clutch was do to be replaced. i replaced the clutch, inner hub, outer hub,and clutch cable cuz it looked old.got clutch adjustment behind side case as close as possible being that the alignment mark on the left side is non existent cuz that piece of crankcase is broken.any ideas or comments greatly appreciated! i think its a adjustment prob on the clutch it self but not sure. Thanks Gurnzz Quote
J-Madd Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 The clutch actuator arm should point straight back when you push on it by hand until resistance is met. If it's adjusted correctly, you probably just need to tighten the clutch cable. Quote

I just want to make sure i get it right this time! Quote
J-Madd Posted March 16, 2010 Report Posted March 16, 2010 Don't worry about the cable until you get the actuator set. It sounds like you know how to do that. ON the clutch lever on the handle bars, normally you want a little play. I dont' remember the spec , but you don't want it so tight that the clutch stays engaged. Maybe about a nickels width between the perch and lever before you really feel tension. I always run mine just tight enough so the it doesn't want to creep forward with the clutch pulled in...it's safer running it loose than tight. You can literally fry a clutch in minutes if you run it too tight. Quote

Any ideas from anyone on what to maybe look at or where to go from here would be greatly appreciated! Thanks Gurnzz Quote

I had that same issue with my dirt digger running certain non- synthetic oils. I starting usiing full synthetic gear oil and it never did it again. Quote
J-Madd Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Yeah, I'm leaning toward the oil also. Maybe try something different. Quote
SandDuner68 Posted March 26, 2010 Report Posted March 26, 2010 Yeah, I'm leaning toward the oil also. Maybe try something different. I am using BelRay Gear Saver SAE 85 with my Dirt Digger and stronger springs with excellent results. Stopped my creeping issue. Seemed like all the oil was flinging out of the clutch pack causing friction and therefore the creeping. Quote
SD1026 Posted March 27, 2010 Report Posted March 27, 2010 U can also try the atf type f. Its my favorite gear oil you can get it at pep boys cheap. Quote
