VictorK Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 As you know Im new to the site Ive had my 97 Banshee for 2 weeks and its been stripped and painted already Im about to put it together. My go fast mods for now are timing plate set at 4 degrees, gnarly pipes with power core 2 silencers, boost bottle,TORS eliminators and 310 mains/27.5 pilots, power reeds, clamp on filters and I have 60 over wisecos on the way and Im gonna run 13/41 sprockets. Now my buddy who is the one to beat has a YFZ450 with full HMF exaust and high compression piston running 110 fuel, what do I need to get him on pavement and dirt? My other buddys Banshee gets him about every 1 out of 3 races and hes not ported and has 19cc domes.just looking for a rough estimate from somebody whos run a lot of races Quote
locogato11283 Posted March 14, 2010 Report Posted March 14, 2010 if you get out of the hole hard with the proper gearing, you will take him every time. if hes just a better rider and is getting the holeshot, then you might be screwed. stay away from the dirt against him. the 4 strokes dont have the wheel speed that the banshees do and get better traction off the line, unless youre set up perfectly for dirt. i would lose the boost bottle to as they have been known to crack the intake boots. they dont do anything anyway. Lose the boost bottle? What is it a gimmick like the old answer roost boost ignition? Haha I'm gonna do a 4 mil stroker and porting but that's not for a while I like to think when I do he's done haha Quote

Also depends on what size tire's your running. One of my banshee's I running 15/ 41 with 18'' tire's. Quote
TwistedSheeRida Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 I would change out your gearing to a 15 tooth too. x2 on keep it on the pavement. Quote
Motoman991 Posted March 15, 2010 Report Posted March 15, 2010 The boost bottle is a gimmick. I remember awhile back someone did a dyno test with a boost bottle and without. Without made more power. Quote
VictorK Posted March 16, 2010 Author Report Posted March 16, 2010 I currently have 15/45 that's how it came I scored a parts banshee today that was stolen and set on fire it has the stock sprockets so I have those not to mention a complete motor for free! Quote
