deejaedub Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 I just rebuilt the engine. I had the cylinders bored .10 over and installed Wiseco pistons.I have Prodesign Cool Heads, Boyesen Power reeds, and Toomey T5's. After the first start up I ran it around the yard to break it in. After the first 15 minute interval I stopped to feel the pipes and the right pipe was too hot to touch and the left pipe was barely warm. While I let it warm up I noticed that the right tail pipe smoked when the left didn't. I replaced the coolant, I tore down the carbs and cleaned both. I dont know what would cause this. Please tell me what I did wrong! Quote
sandman81 Posted March 11, 2010 Report Posted March 11, 2010 I think it could be you crank seal. Did you do a complete rebuild, new crank? Quote

My air filters fell off last year at the dunes going up Sand Mountain and the right cylinder seemed to suck in the sand and the carb was stuck wide open. Quote

The o rings on Prodesign Cool Heads could of not seat properly and you getting coolant in that cylinder. Quote

Im thinking that the right side is getting more air than the left and therefore more lean. The pipe warmed right up fairly quick. Someone else suggested that the carb caps might not be tight so after runnin a little I tightened them both. After that the left pipe warmed up and the right seemed to cool down so they were somewhat equal. I will check again after it cools down. Quote
jbooker82 Posted March 12, 2010 Report Posted March 12, 2010 Make sure the carb slides are in sync as well. Quote

Some people eye ball them, i like to barely rest my finger right on the slides so i can feel them move up together. Quote
