Anyone done this engine swap? looking for some 411

Posted

a few years back i did a honda cbr600rr raptor build. its a TON of work. it took me a couple months working on it at least a little almost every day. it also costs a lot of money to do it right. unless youre very knowledgeable with a torch, plasma cutter, welder, drills, and fabbing parts, i suggest staying far away from it. the motor will fit with some frame mods. dont expect it to just drop in there. chances are youll end up cutting part of the frame out also.

from what i heard, with the exception of making custom motor mounts, its actually fairly easy to do the swap. i think you would be better off asking for help on a raptor forum though. thats just what i heard though soooo.... :shrugani:

well i can tell you from experience, that it is not a "fairly easy swap." you cant just toss it in there, weld up some motor mounts and ride away in the sunset. ive been there and done it. its a huge pain in the ass that requires a lot of time and money. the motor has to be set square and at the right height so you dont have chain issues. the exhaust will have to be custom fabricated. theres a good chance the oil pan will stick down too far and will have to be modded. depending on whether efi or carbs are used, an intake and ignition setup will have to be installed. like i said, its not a cut and paste job.
