Damnit Bob
All 4 foot peg frame holes are all striped to hell. One hole actually had a nut poorly welded in that broke off and is just rattling around now. Theres really not enough wall thickness left for a helicoil. What have you guys done to fix striped out frames??
01banch
My 250r frame was the saem way everything would strip if i tightened things down. I would drill all the way through and nut the other side.
bholmes
Drill through like 01banch said and weld the nut on the other side if you don't want to have to worry about it. What I did on mine was bore the hole out big enough to put a nut in the frame and then weld it up. Doin it like 01banch said will keep you from having to use a welder though if you don't weld or don't have access to a welder.
WantABanshee
Fix it right. Drill it and weld a nut in. I've always got a really long stud that i would hold on to with my welding gloves. Then thread a nut on it so you can hold it in place while you weld the nut. I couldn't imagine drilling through the frame Edited February 12, 2010 by WantABanshee
Damnit Bob
yeah im thinking welding a nut in there is probably best. has anyone used a long threaded rod that goes all the way thru both sides and use nuts outside the footpegs? wadlesw96
Thats what i did on mine just put a threaded rod all the way through then you can really tighten it up with a wrench on each side. Mine just has the rod through the back because my front holes are fine. But i am very happy with how the rod works made the pegs really solid. tundish2800
I had to do that last year. I can get pics if you want to see it. Weld a nut in there. If your frame is powder coated watch out cause the coating will catch fire.
