SAVAGE420 Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 I wouldn't split the cases just yet. What i would do first is pull off both jugs real quick. Pull the motor outa the frame real quick like. Then flip in upside down holding it in your hands, as some one holds the con rods so they don't smash around as you shake it around a bunch till the bolt falls out onto the floor. Seen a few people drop a bolt down inside and this works. Might take 1 minute might take 10 minutes but it will come out. Just MAKE SURE you don't spin that crank at all till it comes out. This will save you alot of time and wont have to split the case apart. Next time when ever you pull the intakes off, stuff a rag down inside so it wont happen again. Good luck. Quote
fck55mph Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 Yeah, I dont see the need to split the cases...you might even be able to get away with removing the cylinders and using a telescoping magnet, remove it from the crank area without removing the engine Quote
stokes77 Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 I did this exact same thing a few months back. I ended up getting it out without splitting the cases, taking the cylinder's off, or taking the motor out. I just used a telescoping magnet through the intakes and managed to get it out. Just make sure that any washer's you have on it comes with it. Remember for next time to shove rags in there as soon as you take the reeds off to prevent it from happening again though. Quote
BigRed350x Posted January 24, 2010 Report Posted January 24, 2010 Any time I pull my reeds off I like to toss a handfull of sand and small metal flakes into the cylinder. I like that raking metal grinding noise it gives my bikes. LOL I'd try the magnet through the intakes idea first, then pull the cylinders and try the magnet around the crank with the engine in the frame, then pull the engine and do the up-side-down shake, then as a last resort split the cases.
