MIKE_XT Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Hey guys, I fitted up a new set of Toomey T5's yesterday and I just can't get the left side (when sitting on the bike). Both pipes look to be sitting perfectly and line up great and the right side is very solid (can't shake it at all). But the left one is quite easy to shake around and move. Are there any tricks I can try or any common install mistakes I may have missed? Cheers, Mike Quote
ClimbAnyHill Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 Exhaust port Oring in place & pipe springs holding it nice & snug? I'd check there & the pipe hanger for wear. Quote
AKheathen Posted January 20, 2010 Report Posted January 20, 2010 yes, make sure the pipe is seated all the way up against the cylinder Quote
MIKE_XT Posted January 21, 2010 Author Report Posted January 21, 2010 Alright guys, i had a bit of a play with them today. Both sides are mounted the same, but only the left one is giving me grief. The right one is solid. With the left hand one, it is held onto the cylinder fine, but when you shake it one side slides a bit off and then goes back (if you know what I mean). My only guess is that the springs have lost tension or something. Is this common? Other than this I'm well and truly stumped. Tomorrow I'm going to try the springs off the right side exhaust to see if it fixes the problem. Any other ideas guys? Cheers, Mike Quote
AKheathen Posted January 21, 2010 Report Posted January 21, 2010 here's a thaught.....have you installed the silencer? springs do wear out, but the stinger will really help. Quote
MIKE_XT Posted January 21, 2010 Author Report Posted January 21, 2010 Yeah mate, silencers are on. It did make a difference, but there is still way too much movement in the left pipe. I'm hoping it's the springs. Quote
yamaha04 Posted January 23, 2010 Report Posted January 23, 2010 well you should be able to tell if the srings are weak just by putting them on. my stock springs are a bitch i can hardly get them on they are so tight. my t5's fit perfect. ???? take some pics and post them up maybe you got somthing wrong but its prett straight forward Quote
