fck55mph Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Could it be a clutch side crank seal...sucking trans oil into combustion chamber? Quote
greenshee14 Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 [what other symptoms would i have Quote
GrMeyer Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 Is it smoking really bad at start ups? And does it smoke still after it has been warmed up? When you let the bike sit for three months, did you put new gas in? When you are adding the premix to the fuel, are you mixing it well enough? Also if it has sat for some time and your wanting to start it up. Oil will settle to the bottom of the case and gas tank. Thats why I say to shake the banshee like a shaking the baby. Quote
greenshee14 Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 Its smoking after it gets warm and im pretty sure the oil mix is correct 50 to 1 is there any certin oil i should use and it is new gas./ i just got the banshee a couple months ago from a buddy. Quote
N2DEEP Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 (edited) Its smoking after it gets warm and im pretty sure the oil mix is correct 50 to 1 is there any certin oil i should use and it is new gas./ i just got the banshee a couple months ago from a buddy. i mix gas at 32 to 1( 4 oz to a gal). and use a good oil remember you get what you pay for! klots oils or maybe 927 Edited January 13, 2010 by N2DEEP Quote
3lue by u Posted January 13, 2010 Report Posted January 13, 2010 I also run 32 to 1. And I run Klotz. It smells good and only smokes a little when it is cold at startup. I dont run more than 40:1. I have some Golden Spectra pre mix that actually says to run it at 64:1 which I think is way too lean but I know people that swear by it. So to each their own. Quote
greenshee14 Posted January 13, 2010 Author Report Posted January 13, 2010 is that a synthetic oil Quote
greenshee14 Posted January 15, 2010 Author Report Posted January 15, 2010 Could this possibly be a too big of a jet issue. Quote
blackshee03 Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 gotta couple questions, are you seeing a loss in power/ snap, are both silencers pouring heavy smoke, what does the smoke smell like, if your burning trans oil it will smell kinda like melting plastic BTW, does the smoke stay the same throughout the run, as in just starting and warmed up does it smoke less or the same?? if you could answer these questions for me Quote
greenshee14 Posted January 15, 2010 Author Report Posted January 15, 2010 [the smoke does stay the same does not smell like burning plstic it smells like im running to rich on oil, Is what it looks like to me but the ratio is correct. Also throught the run it stays the same Quote
broncbob Posted January 15, 2010 Report Posted January 15, 2010 Was the engine rebuilt not long ago? What do the plugs look like? Did you add any oil to the engine when you stored it? What does the packing in the silencers look like? Quote
greenshee14 Posted January 16, 2010 Author Report Posted January 16, 2010 the plugs look okay a little black i did not put oil in it when i stored it but i drained all the old gas out and put new in, the plugs are brand new. i have not checked the packing yet what should i look for when i take them apart. Quote
broncbob Posted January 16, 2010 Report Posted January 16, 2010 I'm wondering if the packing is drenched in oil. Are you sure you didn't double dose your fuel with oil maybe? Quote
