BOOZER2009 Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 I read a post a while back on being able to use lights from wally mart. I saw two sets that could work. My stock ones are trashed. Does anyone know the ones people are using from the pics shown? Quote
MatHolland Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 I'm not sure about those, but I would like to have the smaller billet ones. If you want some stock ones, I could take mine off and sell you them. I took the black plastic crossings that covers the lense off. I cut it off to make it kind of look like what the second picture of yours like. If you are interested, pm me. We might be able to work something out. Like i said, I wouldn't mind having the small billet ones. Quote
gst_r Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 i bought mine on walmart cost me 15 dlls plus 2 dlls for the 35w lights.....on my signature you can see them,,, Quote
Whitbread Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 I tried wally mart lights and only had trouble time and time again at the most inopportune times. With a stock stator, they're just never bright enough either. If you ride at night as much as I do, save yourself lots of frustration and pm Snop for a set of the solstice led lights in spot beam patters. They'll run off just a dc conversion, no battery needed. They're slightly expensive in comparison, but are the single best mod I've ever done to my bike. They're absolutely stupid bright and don't change brightness with rpm. Quote
FrankieSquid Posted January 5, 2010 Report Posted January 5, 2010 I bought me a set of the small chrome lights from walmart, they are not too bad. They are exactly like the one that GST_R has. With a stock stator you will have to get some 30w bulbs from a home improvement store. They are cheap as hell, look and function really good. Quote

I do ride at night and like to have as much light as possible. I would pay more if its a noticable difference. How much were yours? If I have to any stator modifying I might as well do the battery conversion and run hid's Quote

If I have to any stator modifying I might as well do the battery conversion and run hid's I mean floating the ground on the stator and wiring a rectifier in. It's the same mods as if you were going to run a battery but you don't need it with the solstice led's. Floating the ground takes 20 mins, it's really not that big of a deal. Just up the idle very slightly at night so they don't flicker at idle and you're good to go. Yeah, they're the square ones. They cost a nudge over $200 for 2 but have been worth every penny so far. This is not the greatest picture at all but it's the only one I have at the moment. This is in pitch black woods in the middle of nowhere and slightly uphill. The picture doesn't do justice at all to how bright just 2 are. I'll be adding 2 more eventually. Quote
FrankieSquid Posted January 7, 2010 Report Posted January 7, 2010 This was as good as a pic i could get and the box they came so you know what to look for Quote

Did you uograde your stator to a 200? Quote

Yeah, the light color looks like a 6000k hid also. They're bright enough that whenever I ride behind trucks or buggies at night, they have to turn their mirrors down haha. Nope, still stock stator. Since they only draw 10w a piece, you can easily run 4 or 5 on a stock stator if you really wanted. Quote

I was very close to leaning towrds the battery and HID's. But this way is way cheaper and easier. Quote
