petenorth Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Just installed TOR eliminator kit. Cable is not in a bind, but it just seems a little hard to push. Is this normal? Quote
GrMeyer Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 I know some people cut the springs in the carbs to cut down on the throttle pull. I have yet to do this and was thinking of looking into it on my stock carbs. But really dont mind the throttle pull. But most of the pull on two carbs will get to you later on in the day. Good thing my dunes group stops about every 30-45mins to have a beer! Quote
THE GRIM RIPPER Posted December 5, 2009 Report Posted December 5, 2009 Its a banshee thing. If you cut down the return springs, make sure you stretch the remnants of the spring to as tall as it was previously, before the cut. Also, doing this will leave you with a sharp end on the spring. You want to make sure you manipulate that sharp end with a pair of pliers so the spring wont chew up metal, which will end up in your slide bore, or worse, your motor. This helps, did it to mine a long time ago. Just know you run a risk of the throttle sticking wide open. You will want to sync the carbs for sure after doing this. Quote
WINDYCITYJOHN400 Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 First- I'd lube the snot out of the cable even if it's new. Then if you want you can cut the springs down a little. On the 35PWK carbs the throttle pull is tough. The Yamaha Worrior carb springs fit perfect in them and lighten the pull on the carbs. Quote
Bansh-eman Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 an extended thumb throttle would also be a good idea on top of snipping a few coils off the springs. Quote
zachmw Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 I play a lot of X-Box, so my thumb is ripped. Could also switch to a twist Quote
patrickkomar Posted December 7, 2009 Report Posted December 7, 2009 Any one ever thought of using a Honda thumb throttle? Me and my brother were looking at his trx and other that if the threaded I don't see a draw back, There smaller in size so you can play with were you mount it(closer or further from the grip) they do seem to have a more comfy thumb bar and (I'm not sure) but they seem to have a better mechanical advantage.
