abotto88 Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Hey guys, So here is my problem, I went through a bit of water a couple of weeks ago and about 1-2 an hour later the only way I could start it was pull starting, but at low rpms I would lose spark and it would die. After pull starting 4 times I lost spark altogether and it would not even pullstart. So I pulled the stator cover off and sprayed everything with a water dispersant and unclipped all connections and sprayed them. I had a spare coil so I wacked that in and it fired over first kick. Took it for a bit of a run and it went fine. Next day I went to start it and it was like I had a inconsistent spark, would fire but would not idle at all. So I put the original coil back in (The one that went through water) Fired like 2nd kick, Same deal again took it for a ride and went fine. Tryed to start it next morning and same thing will fire every 5 kicks but wont idle. Please Help this has really got me stumped Quote
black sunshine Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 Still got the TORS? Pull the shifter side cover and determine the stator is dry? Quote
abotto88 Posted December 1, 2009 Author Report Posted December 1, 2009 Still got the TORS? Pull the shifter side cover and determine the stator is dry? tors has been removed bro, pulled the stator cover off and sprayed a heap of water disperesnt in there so all the moisture should have been removed Quote
No Limit Powersports Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 I would suspect a stator problem especially if you went through a lot of water but it could be a number of things if you have a buddy with another bike start swapping parts till you figure it out. Quote
AKheathen Posted December 1, 2009 Report Posted December 1, 2009 first, clean yur carbs out real good....filters, too Quote
bansheesandrider Posted December 2, 2009 Report Posted December 2, 2009 Do you have clean bare metal on the frame ears where the coil bolts on? This is the ground for the coil and since bolting on a differentcoil seems to help, I thought maybe you get a good ground when you put it on but then overnight the corrosion sets in. Quote

As for the stator, when I pulled the cover off it didnt appear to have to much water in there, but i suppose this could still be an issue. Could it be the spark pickup gap? Quote
