k so i just got my cylinders bored from jeff at fast with pistons, the bore is 40. over. it started first kick, was smokey because i assembled it all with left over klotz oil. does it take a while for allt he oil to burn off? more then 20 mins?well the smoking never stoped, it got a little better but not much. i might be burning collant somehwere but i cant / or dont know where to start lookin at. im not leaking coolant thats for sure. my other problem is that its not idloling like it was. i contstanlty have to keep giving it a little gas to keep it runnin. i got 290 jets in it.

any help would be greatly apprectiated.. i wanna ride

it is gonna take longer than 20 minutes.you need to do the proper heat cycles for a new top end to break it in correctly.also-dont try and tune or adjust until it has been fully broke in,ur just chasing ur tail.the rings arent seated fully yet and ur getting blow by.it shouldnt take much longer to seat if you broke in correctly-id say 30 mins. more of actual ride time.then u can adjustif you need to.just give it a lil throttle to keep her going during this.another thing is-u dont want the bike to not smoke at all-that means u prob. dont have enough oil or jetting is a little lean.plus-it is getting cold out,maybe thats part of it.

maybe your float is set to high or the needle and seat is plugged,do you have gas pouring out the overflow tubes on the carb? Jeff

nope. no gas coming from the overflow. i mean the carb was fine before the rebuild.. i dunno. i guess il try breakin it in more see if that helps. if it doesnt il just start messin with the carbs. also if i cant see any visible collant leaking where does the collant usally leak inside.? head? just tryin to get all the info i can when i go to work on it cause i dont got the internet out where im goin.

sounds like the carb slides are in the wrong carb.check em and make sure the cutaway is facing the back of the carb.having them in backwards will cause all of the symptoms ur describing down to the smoking issue.try that-if that isnt it-get a tester and pressurize ur radiator to see if you have a cooland leak.bet its slides tho.good luck!

sounds like the carb slides are in the wrong carb.check em and make sure the cutaway is facing the back of the carb.having them in backwards will cause all of the symptoms ur describing down to the smoking issue.try that-if that isnt it-get a tester and pressurize ur radiator to see if you have a cooland leak.bet its slides tho.good luck!

k i will check the slides when i get home... is there a cheap radiator pressure tester i can buy. the cheapest i found was sears and it was 65.00? also i know how to change the main jet. but how do i figure out what my float should be at, i tried seacrhing it? couldnt find nothing

When it quits smoking you need to start worrying, remember this is a 2 stroke. It is burning oil, you put it right in the fuel remember, at least i hope you did. Typically if you have a coolant leaking you will get real white smoke and usually only from one side. Just check your coolant level and see if your loosing coolant. If its smoking more out one side then the other there are things it could be. Just give us some more info.

i didnt say switch the slides-make sure they are in RIGHT!!!if the cutout is not towards the back it will run like shit.seriously-take the 2 minutes to see if its right before you go ape shit.pull the seat and filter and look at the slides.if the bottom of the slides go straight across-thats ur problem-if the cutaway is staring you in the face,they are right and move on. <_<

Your carbs are out of sync. I have had the same probablem with it idleing and running one one cylinder at idle. Also if one side is smoking more then the other the carbs are outta sync.

k so hopefully if i sync my carbs it will work.. i dont got a sync tool but i did find this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hpqeSpbq0PQ... will this work?? is there an easyer way. and will i fuck up the motor if i ride it around a little to break it in if i HAVE to have the tool to sync>>

also i took my filter off and looked through to the carbs... i will open the throttle and they both move the exact same time. i think the one on the right has a little more open then the other
