seabass Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 I removed my clutch cover and the lock washer was sitting at the bottom of the case and the adjustment screw was hanging there. I'm going to pull the clutch later tonight and my Clymers is at my friends house. My question is, does that screw bolt into the motor and it broke off in there? I can't really tell with the shift shaft in place and any diagrams I looked at don't show if it does. Thanks in advance. Quote
shanYE west Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 yes.. that bolts into the motor.. should have a jam nut too. Quote
seabass Posted November 26, 2009 Author Report Posted November 26, 2009 (edited) Yeah, the nuts still on the screw. Any reason these things break, something I should check for, do they just get weak over time? Thanks for the info. Edited November 26, 2009 by seabass Quote
locogato11283 Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 i cant see any reason for that thing to break. thats a pretty solid bolt. there really isnt any pressure on it as all it really does is keeps your shift shaft centered on the shift star. Quote
Badasshee Posted November 26, 2009 Report Posted November 26, 2009 i snapped my recently but it was due to other things helping it snap. Quote
seabass Posted November 27, 2009 Author Report Posted November 27, 2009 What are the other things that caused it to break? Quote
JKJK Posted November 27, 2009 Report Posted November 27, 2009 Is the adjustment stud broken off or did it un thread itself+fall out?First inspect the stud+see if it's actually broken. Excessive force applied to the shifter could damage the stud to the point of failure. Quote
seabass Posted November 27, 2009 Author Report Posted November 27, 2009 Hey John, what's up? Yeah it's broken off. Thanks for the info. Quote
