dirtydownunder Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 at a powder coater ? haha just look in the phone book or internet for a powder coater near you. to do it your self, you need the powder (what ever colour you decide) and heat (proper baking room or a oxy torch) you heat what you want to be coated, throw some power on it and heat it like heat shrink. (of course make shaw all is clean) little stuff is easy but bigger stuff you cant do your self (they use machines to do it), just pay some one to do a awesome job . Quote

Ya the powder and the gun are easy to get...It's the oven it takes to bake it is a little more expensive... Quote
87sheerips Posted November 16, 2009 Report Posted November 16, 2009 I can take care of the smaller stuff for you, PM me for a quote! Quote
jlevasseur Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 getting set up to do it yourself is not worth it unless you plan on starting a bussiness. You should be able to get most everthing on your bike powdercoated for under $800(including cases). Thats seems to be the average going rate in oregon. where you from? Quote
bansheesandrider Posted November 18, 2009 Report Posted November 18, 2009 I would recomend talking to the company that is actually going to blow and bake the powder. Alot of "bike"shops say they are doing it but they are actually sending it to someone else and marking up the price to get their cut. Also, you have to be careful about podercoating the stock A-arms because the have a plastic bushing in the ball joint that will melt in the powdercoat oven. Some guys say it can be done with a heat lamp so the ball joint doesn't get too hot, but I have no expierence with this. Quote
