Ieat4strokes Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 OK i dropped in my 4mill FAST motor today....had everything ready but no race gas..... So My buddy said he had a half a can of VP C12, i was like cool bring it.... Mixed up a gal and kicked until leg was about fall off, checked spark...fine, then poured some of the gas on concrete, and voila, condensation/water in the gas.... and a good bit. So i dumped tank, rinsed with reg gas, took apart carbs and blasted them.... Did i hurt anything in the motor as long as I didnt run it? Also for those that run race gas do yall use c12 on 2 strokes? ive always used it on my streetbikes, just wondering what everyone uses.... Thank Quote
RILS Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 It shouldnt have hurt anything. I run tt111 but im sure c12 is good as well.Get it all out and it will be fine. Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted October 25, 2009 Author Report Posted October 25, 2009 Thanks for your reply. Yea I was just wondering. I mean it's a new motor, never been ran just nervous I guess. Just wanted to make sure water wouldn't hurt nothing internally. Quote
SAVAGE420 Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Wont hurt anything, unless you let the watery gas sit down on the crank and bearings for a good long while , but im sure you wouldn't do that. Fresh gas and your golden. Quote
AKheathen Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 don't worry, i get water all the time, both from running through creeks and washing/overnight condensation from washing....i drain the carbs once in a while, and call it good. worst thing it's ever done is sticky slides, or ice in the carbs. i've seen my plugs completely drenched, wiped them off, fired it up and just blew it away, no porblems. only thing is if you had more than a couple cups sitting in the engine Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted October 25, 2009 Author Report Posted October 25, 2009 Appreciate it fellas....Gotta fresh new 5gal drum of c12 coming today, gonna go ahead n clean her out, real good hahaha......shouldve went with pump domes though, this is gonna get expensive..... $75!!!!!!!!! WTF! Quote

WTF! Do you have a sunocco dealer anywhere near you? I get 110 for 6.75 gallon in 55 gallon drums, or 112 for around 8.50 save 10 cents per gallon if you buy it in the 55 gallon drum, and with 2 shees on race fuel that doesnt last too long Quote
AKheathen Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 can ou get away with 100oct? if so, look for avgas. i buy it @ the pump for little more than premium @ one of those card stations that sell just regular and diesel by card Quote
KlotzBanshee Posted October 25, 2009 Report Posted October 25, 2009 Depending on your compression you may be able to get away with a 50/50 mix. I pay $63 for a 5gal can of C12 and get 5gal of premium pump gas and end up with 10gal of approximately 103 octane for less than 8 bucks a gal. Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted October 25, 2009 Author Report Posted October 25, 2009 I do need to get in Touch with Jeff and find out. I wouldn't mind at all if I could do 50/50. Or run av gas. There's a pump at the municipal airport that sells it but they don't like to sell to public for some reason. Gotta know somebody that know somebody if u know what I mean. Quote

rubberneck Posted October 26, 2009 Report Posted October 26, 2009 What size domes did Jeff set you up with? My 4mil i just got from him, he set me up with 19cc domes. Assuming he set you up the same, I dont think you are going to run 50/50 with that. UCCR is around 16:1 Assuming your elevation is aroung sea level or close, and squish is normal, i just dont see you mixing fuel especially with timing at +7 s in your sig Quote

I checked compression on a cold never started motor and it was 150psi.....guage may be boogered? about right?, its a Oreillie's guage but its a nice one.... i dont know, I have a issue going on right now that i need to get in touch with Jeff about, more on that soon........ From the sound of it you have the same setup as me, but my elevation is around 2,000. So yeah your gonna need to run race fuel, i know i have too. C12 has a Motor ocatane number, thats the octane number you need to look for, of 108. VP110 has a motor octane number of 107, thats what i use. Quote
Ieat4strokes Posted October 26, 2009 Author Report Posted October 26, 2009 Well I got her purring like a kitten. Heat cycled it a few times and been putting around the years going through the gears. Has a bad bog off idle. I'm sure that my airscrews tho. Just got a little tuning to do. Thanks again everyone. Quote
