toddyfresh Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 So im gonna split my case for the first time so i can change my crankshaft seal that went bad.. I bought a like 7 piece seal kit im gonna use but i have a few questions.. i read the book and i was wondering after i take the bottom bolts off and then the top and start to split is there anything that can fall off or anything from the top of the motor when i take it off or is everything sitting at the bottom? next question is when i put the seal in can i just slide it over the crankshaft and sit it in.. I dont wanna move crank and mess something up.. Quote
00tbanshee Posted October 16, 2009 Report Posted October 16, 2009 when you flip it over and pull the bottom part of the case off, everything will stay in the top.sometimes the crank will try to pull up with the bottom case ,but just tap it off with a rubber mallet.there is nothing in the bottom case that will fall out unless the half rings on the bearings stick to it,if so just make sure you put them back on before you put the cases back together.your seals will slide right off and back on the crank.just make sure the little pins on the bearing are setting in the little groves on the top case when you slap it back together.dry fit the bottom case back on before you seal it for good.some times you have to adjust the gears on the tranny shaft for the forks to slide back into. toddyfresh Posted October 16, 2009 Author Report Posted October 16, 2009 What if a gear or something spins or is it possible to knock it outta time or mess anything up. Nice I don't gotta take head off Quote
