bansheemaniac1 Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 Hi everyone. I finished my small tune-up today. I took off my stock tors and stock carbs and stock head, and reed valves. replaced head with pro design cool head, 19cc domes, 35mm air strykers, and vitos carbon flex stage 2 reed valves. Crunk on second kick. idles good. Ran up the road and came back. NO POWERBAND KICK?? I left the old low octane gas in it. Would low octane fuel with this set up cause the powerband not to come in??? RippinShee Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 35MM are big carbs for a non ported motor. Other mods please? Did you jet it correctly and complete a plug chop? Quote
JMADD Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 So you put new pistons in? Hence "rebuild." Did you hone the cylinders? Just popping in new pistons without honing can lead to that. However, you didn't actually mention pistons, so I'm confused about your rebuild. Quote

However, you didn't actually mention pistons, so I'm confused about your rebuild. i'm pretty sure engine has stock guts. all i've done is added 4 degree timing key,sst fmf headers, powercore 2 muffs, 35mm pwk's, stock reed cages with vito's carbon flex stage 2 reeds, prodesign cool head with 19cc domes which i were told were for a stock engine. and i don't know what plug chopping is.that's pretty much it. I live about 300 ft above sea level and jetted for that. I even ran it once came back, checked the plug and it was a good tan color. so i'm not sure what to do. Quote
JMADD Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 I wouldn't run 19 cc domes on pump gas. Also, as mentioned, those carbs are too big. Just put the stockers back on there. The big carbs are gonna be difficult to jet, because your motor isn't pulling enough air through the carbs to get the correct amount of fuel. If you insist on running those carbs, let us know what jets and needles are in them. Quote

Fullthrottle02 Posted September 17, 2009 Report Posted September 17, 2009 like JMADD said, carbs are huge for stock motor and i would check compression to ensure the 19cc domes dont require you to run high octane fuel. Quote

I have a friend that has the complete trinity 2 into 1 kit for sale, including cable. Let me know if your interested. 21 or 22 cc domes would be easier on your crank (less compression) and your pocket book (pump gas). Quote

RippinShee Posted September 18, 2009 Report Posted September 18, 2009 Regardless if the carbs are too big; the jetting is way off. 55 pilots and 155 mains are huge. Should be between 45 and 48 pilot and 142-148 mains. But they carbs are too big if you're not ported. Quote
