symptons of a bad top and

hi, i was just curious to what are the symptoms of a top end thats on its way out... my quad is hard to start and im just curious to see if a topend will solve my problems. also, do the banshees have nickleplated cylinders?

have you done a compression check? it could be that your compression is way too low causing it to start hard. thatd be my first thing to check.

 

stock banshee cylinders are not plated.

if it started good before and you have to kick it till your foot hurts now your rings are prob junk. that doesnt necessarely mean you need a new top end it all depends on how good of condition your cylinders are in

well i do have to kick it until my boot is ready to fall off, ill try to do a compression test this weekend if i have the time. the guy i bought it off of said he had just reringed it...but he was a hack. totally screwed me over. i guess te compression tester will tell me truth

compression test will be a good indicator of whats going on. post back when you get the results.

how much compression should i be looking for?

i think stock is around 135psi so ne less than 115psi i would rebuild. that is if you have stock head and port and everything.

well this is the most useless way of determining it and definetly the lazy mans method but also the least accurate. if you giver balls and the powerband comes on late and hard as a mother its not soo good. a good top end has a quick and smoother powerband
